The Global Hub of Choice for Technology & Innovation in Energy, Sustainability and Beyond.

ABOUT

With the remarkable transformation and progress towards achieving Vision 2030, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing equally remarkable advancement in research, development and innovation. In addition to the role of dedicated organizations and institutions such as universities and R&D centers, Science Parks and Innovation Districts represent an important element crucial to enabling the overall ecosystem to achieve the full potential of its knowledge-driven economic impact.

As such, the Dhahran Techno Valley represents a unique region for technology and innovation. It does so by connecting unparalleled research and innovation talent, R&D assets and activities, as well as shared grand challenges that are of importance to the Kingdom and the world. The Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Company (DTVC) – a wholly owned subsidiary of the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) – is a key driver of the continued development and activation of the Dhahran Techno Valley ecosystem, which includes the DTV Science Park. The DTV Science Park was created more than 15 years ago to promote the knowledge-based, innovation-driven economic development in Dhahran, the Eastern Province, the Kingdom and beyond. Today, with more than 20 major partners and tenants within the DTV Science Park, and surrounded by leading institutions such as KFUPM, national champions such as Saudi Aramco, SABIC, SEC, Sipchem, and number of multi-national technology leaders such as SLB, Baker Hughes and Yokogawa (see partners and tenants below), DTV stands as a mature ecosystem, unmatched in its sectors of specialization. More than 1600 people work across the Valley, producing more than 100 patents per year and engaged in commercializing more than 100 technologies.

Naturally, DTV also offers unique opportunities of hands-on training and developments for students and professionals alike. Going forward, the Company is driving an effort to evolve the overall ecosystem around the Science Park to become a major hub of innovation (towards the Innovation District model) that is far more connected and integrated, enabling the flow of innovative talent, ideas and resources across its larger footprint, and realizing far more economic impact.
