A Milestone for Saudi Innovation Ecosystem
DTV to Host IASP World Conference 2027:
Dhahran Techno Valley (DTV), a subsidiary of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and Saudi Arabia’s global hub for technology and innovation in energy and sustainability, has won its bid to host the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) World Conference 2027 in Dhahran.
This landmark achievement follows a rigorous international selection process that culminated in a competitive vote held in Beijing on 18th September 2025, where Dhahran secured 87 out of 118 votes, an overwhelming show of confidence in the Kingdom’s technology and investment ecosystem.
Driving the Kingdom’s Knowledge and Technology Ecosystem
DTV plays a central role in advancing Saudi Arabia’s innovation landscape as KFUPM’s arm in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship activities, while collaborating with global research partners such as Aramco, SABIC, SLB, and Baker Hughes.
The ecosystem today comprises more than 20 corporate R&D centers, over 1,750 professionals, 520 patents, and nearly 1,000 technology transfers every year.
DTV has set a bold target of launching 160 deep-tech startups by 2027, supported by multiple startup programs. Its research and incubation activities are backed by billions of dollars in venture capital funding, providing global entrepreneurs with unparalleled access to capital and collaboration opportunities.
The successful bid positions DTV at the forefront of Saudi Arabia’s innovation journey, opening new pathways for global collaboration, investment, and knowledge exchange. As preparations begin for IASP 2027, DTV will continue to strengthen its role as a catalyst for transformative partnerships that advance technology, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development, both in the Kingdom and beyond.
